So you know those Mac commercials with that nerdy kid from the latest Die Hard movie? The one where Bruce Willis is shooting (American) terrorists from his wheelchair while trying to keep his dentures in? Anyway, the commercials air on almost every channel and they basically make fun of Microsoft by pointing out obvious flaws in Billy Gates' flagship operating system.
Well I think Billionaire Billy may have taken the TV spots personally because Microsoft is releasing the Zune HD on September 15th. What is the Zune HD? It's an Apple Ipod...on steroids. With HD video output, a touch screen that puts Apple's to shame, an HD Radio, and wireless syncing, it's safe to say the Zune HD may even come with a preloaded video of Bill Gates bitch-slapping Steve Jobs. In short, this new Media Player may actually do what no other player has been able to do: give Apple some competition on the digital music front.
Another aspect of the Zune that sets it apart from the Ipod is the software. It acts as a music discovery engine, recommending music you may like based on previous listens. It also brings listeners together through a social community, linking them by similarities such as artists, album plays, and music genres.
And although this is the fourth Zune to be released, the HD's predecessors always seemed to fall a little short in regard to the industry leading Ipod. Just as the 120Gig Zune was released to compete with the Ipod classic, Apple dropped its top selling touch screen Ipod, obliterating any chance Microsoft had of taking the lead in portable music sales. Will this be the case this time around? Will Apple release some futuristically new-fangled Ipod with invisible headphones that can store a billion and six songs? Guess we'll see. Until then, check out the specs here: http://www.zune.net/en-us/mp3players/zunehd/default.htm
So.....GET YA ONE!!
